Protect Your Website Today
Use this tool for website password protection to generate all the necessary codes needed to password protect a directory via .htaccess. It outputs the lines to add to your .htaccess, and (1) encrypts the desired passwords to add to your password file in the case of File-Based Password Storage or (2) MySQL database in the case of MySQL Database-Based Type Password Storage.

Type Password Storage

Select type password storage for website password protection. Are passwords stored in a flat file (File-Based), or in a MySQL database. The default is File-Based (e.g., .htpasswd).

Usernames

Enter the desired username(s) used to authenticate entry into the protected directory. One username per line: press ENTER after each username.

Passwords

Enter the desired password(s) used to authenticate entry into the protected directory. One password per line: press ENTER after each password.

Absolute (full) server of password file relative to your server's root directory. Password file (e.g., .htpasswd) is a text file that is used to contain your usernames and encrypted passwords. Enter the path you will be placing your password file (which contains the usernames/passwords) on the server. It should be a non user accessible location, such as directly above your public HTML folder. This is to prevent visitors from directly viewing this file in their web browser. Not sure what to use for path? Best to ask your web host.
