We have started work on a new feature which has been requested by a number of clients: support for multiple password files. Currently PS (like our competition) supports one password file. This is the usual and default setup on most websites and Apache. However, some people use multiple password files: often because they use multiple payment processors which maintain their own password file. We expect to roll out this new feature this month: April, 2020.

We have officially designated PS8 (Password Sentry Version 8) as the official current stable release of Password Sentry (replacing PS7). After three months of Beta testing, PS8 has undergone a serious of updates to correct all discovered / reported issues and bugs. We are fully confident in PS8, which is why we promoted PS8 from Beta to Stable.
We encourage everyone to update to PS8. PS8 is very different from previous versions of PS (including the latest PS7) in terms of folder and file structure. Further, there have been significant changes to the database. Therefore, you need to reinstall PS by installing PS8 in a NEW folder, and using a NEW database. Once installed and initiated, tracking will start anew for users. Please see
here.

During this time of unprecedented uncertainty, all of us here at Password Sentry are concerned about the safety and well-being of our families, colleagues, customers, and partners.
Our hearts are with those who have been affected personally by the outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19) as well as the many communities around the world that are facing extreme measures in the attempt to slow its spread.
That said, at this time we are unaffected, and our operations continue per normal, without interruption. We have been fortunate, but we have also implemented a number of measures which we encourage others to do the same:
1. Practising social distancing (avoiding non-essential gatherings, avoiding common greetings, such as handshakes, avoiding crowded places such as concerts, arenas, conferences and festivals, limiting contact with people at higher risk like older adults and those in poor health, and keeping a distance of at least two metres from others).
2. Regular and frequent handwashing.
3. Reducing contact with others.
4. Regular cleaning of high-touch surfaces.
5. Avoiding touching eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.
6. When coughing or sneezing: cough or sneeze into a tissue or the bend of arm, and not hand, and disposal of any tissues used as soon as possible in a lined waste basket and washing hands afterwards.
So we at Password Sentry wish everyone good health and good spirits. We will get through this to the other side. It will take time, perseverance, and struggles. But, we will do it, and come out of it stronger.

Fixed AuthForm (AF) Plugin issue with respect to {Login Attempts Threshold} and {Login Failed Attempts Threshold}. IPs were not beinbg suspended until several attempts after threshold. Fixed.

Fixed tracking issue with respect to setting {Unique Threshold} to XX days (instead of default 0 [disabled]). Malfunctioning due to error in MySQL query which performs check. Fixed.

Fixed doc error with respect to setting up cron job to execute cron.php app. Changed setupname=setup1 to simply setup1 as cron parameters to pass. Fixed.

Fixed issue with respect to reset.php app. If app was set to restore suspended IPs (only applicable if using optional AuthForm (AF) Plugin), suspended IPs were not being restored properly. Fixed.

Fixed issue with respect to some PS AdminCP log reporting. When deleting selected log entries, entries not deleted. Fixed.

PS8 Update as 8.00202002081
Changes include the following:

Fixed issue when users added via PS AdminCP :: Users :: Manage Users. Carriage return not appended, so next user added to same line, thereby rendering both users as inaccessible.Only applicable when adding users via PS AdminCP, and not when user added via another app like a billing script. Fixed.

Fixed a few minor issues.

New feature added. BandwidthMonitor (BM) Plugin now can be used to throttle per-user downloading. Only underwent limited local alpha testing, but passed with flying colours. However, this feature is Beta.

We are in the process of updating the BandwidthMonitor (BM) Plugin: a free plugin included with PS. Currently the plugin monitors and logs per-user bandwidth usage. We are adding an exciting new feature. The plugin will limit bandwidth usage per unit time. Via PS AdminCP, you can define how much bandwidth a user can use in a set time period. For example, limit bandwidth usage to 10GB per day, or 1GB per hour. You set how much and what time period. This allows you to throttle bandwidth in order to control bandwidth usage, which can be expensive.
